Routinely, employees will throw away company filters because they’ve never been instructed otherwise. There’s rarely a departmental policy in effect that requires filter recycling. As a result, corporations and small business alike spend thousands of dollars unnecessarily believing there’s no other option. But if they did recycle and not toss away their old filters, the savings would be significant. Specifically, it would be over 50 percent.

Let’s look at an example. Because Company A, for instance, isn’t familiar with the benefits of recycling, it spends $1,440 plus sales tax for 12 new filters. Conversely. Company B chooses to clean its filters and so only pays $720 and no sales tax. Filta-Tec is a Louisiana family-owned business whose single purpose is to service all your filtration needs. Filta-Tec was started in 1995 and originally catered to the fleet industry. This involved pick up and delivery of filters on rentals, bobcats, front-end loaders, dozers and mining equipment in Louisiana and Mississippi. Channels of communication were constantly kept open, as they are today, and Filta-Tec gradually established its name as a serious player in the air filter industry. Within a few years Filta-Tec was cleaning and recycling filters for many other industries. By 2000, the company expanded into sales and by 2001 moved into a new facility.

Today, Filta-Tec primarily services and supplies air filtration products to the manufacturing, powder coating and pollution control market. Its approach to business is one of quality service and making your working conditions as optimal as possible. Filta-Tec will make appropriate recommendations and provide you with the filter best suited to your business in order to improve and enhance your filtration system.

When Filta-Tec first opened its doors, none of its prospective clients were recycling. Today it provides solid, proven products and a responsible recycling service. Filta-Tec has shown why replacing cartridge filters with new filters can be a costly practice and why recycling your air filters is important. Even for a non-believer, it’s difficult to dismiss the advantages of an outstanding product and cleaning system and the one-on-one service of Filta-Tec.

Since its inception this expanding organization has been an advocate of recycled filters and is now one of the most accomplished recyclers in the air filtration industry.

Filta-Tec is always looking to better itself and takes pride in setting itself apart from other industry suppliers. Filta-Tec is accessible 24/7 and in case of emergency, every client receives immediate attention. When necessary, one-day service is provided if a system becomes non-operational and production shuts down.

Aside from the obvious, there are other reasons for using Filta-Tec, such as its Build & Hold program. This program, suggested for clients using large numbers of filters, will provide them with one set of filters while holding the other. Should the client require the second set, Filta-Tec will offer same-day service and ship them that day.

This same service is also available for recycled filters. In cases where it is necessary to clean and ship a recycled filter within a day, Filta-Tec will make the appropriate arrangements. Why Recycle?

So, why is recycling important and what are its advantages?

Let’s get right to the point. Filta-Tec’s sonic system cleans and restores filters to 99.6 percent of maximum efficiency. Conversely, a new filter is not fully efficient until it builds up a filtering shield, or a pre-coat. In fact, most contaminants pass through an air filter during its early stage and when its efficiency is at its lowest. A filter only develops a pre-coat after 15-20 percent of its life elapses. When this happens, microscopic particles begin to build up on the media surface which in turn permit the filter to target specific contaminants. Only at this point is the filter 100 percent efficient.

It makes little sense to repeatedly buy new filters when a recycled one can be cleaned and reused. The case against an OEM filter is even stronger when one realizes the price of a recycled filter is less than half the original cost of a new one. But there are other advantages aside from these savings. With a maximum-performing filter, a company’s operating costs are similarly lowered, the equipment’s life is extended, the company’s operating systems perform better, and unwanted waste, as we’ve noted, is kept out of landfills. If this isn’t enough, consider the safety of the employees who are now working in a healthier environment. This usually leads to less down time and more productivity.

The Program

In all cases an OEM filter is one that is built to work in a perfect environment. Since most environments have some humidity and moisture, all this is considered when Filta-Tec designs/and or recommends a filter for you. Its filters provide more life and durability and are constructed to your specific requirements.

Because of the workmanship that goes into a Filta-Tec filter, the company is eager for all new and prospective customers to be included in its Recycling Program. Within the scope of this set-up, Filta-Tec will:

All recycled filters are cleaned at Filta-Tec. Its process is one of dried, chilled, filtered air and computerized controlled vacuum, vibration and rotation cycles. This procedure blows and vacuums the captured product from the filter without disturbing the media. Each client’s filters are handled individually inside Filta-Tec’s clean room. This practice eliminates any chance of contamination or cross contamination. Every customer and his filters are identified for tracking purposes. The filters are then cleaned, tested, bagged and packaged for return delivery.  

Such organization makes for less maintenance, maximum clean airflow, removal of harmful contaminants and fewer throwaway filters.With less cost to the company and healthier workers, one might say it’s a win-win situation for both business and the environment.

Custom Built Filters

The following is an actual case in point.

A company approaches its equipment manufacturer to help it improve the operation of its aging equipment. The OEM recommends conversion kits to accept a new filter configuration.
